DAME JANET TROTTER

JANET TROTTER trained to teach in Derby and then taught in a variety of secondary schools in Kent prior to taking up posts at Colleges in Winchester and Lancaster.

 

She came to Cheltenham as Principal of the College of St Paul and St Mary in Cheltenham in 1986 which, in 2001, became the University of Gloucestershire where she held the position of Vice Chancellor until 2006 when she retired.

 

Simultaneously Janet was involved in the NHS as a Non Executive Director and Chair from 1991 – 2012.  She has been, and continues to be involved in a number of charities.

 

Janet has Honorary Doctorates from a number of universities including Bristol, West of England and Gloucestershire.  She is a Freeman of Cheltenham.   She received an OBE in 1991 and a DBE in the 2000 New Year’s Honours List.  She was appointed Lord Lieutenant for Gloucestershire in October 2010.
